  • Flexible hours to suit study, family or everyday life
  • Full training provided + globally recognised qualification
  • Keen to work in our state-of-the-art Sports facility?

Make a real impact — while gaining skills you’ll use for life.

As a Lifeguard, you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team making sure everyone stays safe in the pool. You’ll help keep the aquatic area looking great, assist customers, and be a key part of the action at one of the district’s busiest and most exciting facilities.

This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn, build confidence, and gain practical skills that stay with you for life.

We have a range of part‑time and casual hours that fit around school, study, family commitments, or other life priorities — perfect for students, caregivers, or anyone looking for work that adapts to their schedule. The part time shifts available are:

Saturday:

  • 9:00am - 12:00pm
  • 1:00pm - 6:30pm

Sunday:

  • 9:00am - 12:00pm
  • 12:00pm - 5:30pm
  • 2:30pm - 6:30pm

Who are we looking for?

You don't need to be a lifeguard already - we will train you! If you're a confident swimmer, have a positive attitude, and love working with people, this could be the perfect fit.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Keen to learn and grow
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and a great communicator
  • A team player with a can-do attitude
  • Ready to get certified in lifeguarding and first aid (we’ll help!)

What we can offer you

You’ll also gain a globally recognised qualification through our transition to the International Lifeguarding Training Program — opening pathways to jobs across New Zealand and the world. Whether you’re thinking about travel, future study, or a career in recreation, this is a fantastic foundation.

Working within a varied and friendly atmosphere, you will be supported and encouraged to enhance and further your career, with the possibility of additional hours or other opportunities within EA Networks Centre or Council in the future.

Benefits of being part of our team include:

  • Free gym and pool access – stay fit while you work
  • Training and development – build valuable life and professional skills
  • Annual reviews – your hard work won’t go unnoticed
  • A fun, friendly team – work with people who’ve got your back
  • Part-time hours so you can work around school and other activities
