Are you passionate about creating vibrant, inclusive, and memorable events that bring people together? Do you thrive on empowering communities and making things happen behind the scenes? If so, we want to hear from you!

Ashburton District Council is on the lookout for a dynamic Events Coordinator to lead the charge in seeking out, facilitating, and delivering a diverse range of events across our district. In this exciting role, you’ll be the go-to person for supporting and enabling community groups, helping them bring their event ideas to life — from local festivals and cultural celebrations to sporting and arts events.

But that’s not all — you’ll also take the reins on four iconic Council-led events each year, leading everything from planning and promotion to sponsorship and delivery. It’s a hands-on, high-impact role where no two days are the same.

You’ll work closely with our Economic Development team and across Council to ensure events reflect the spirit of Ashburton and contribute to our district’s vibrancy and growth.

You’ll be based in our stunning new building, Te Whare Whakatere, working with a team that’s friendly, supportive, and just a little bit extra (in all the right ways).

And outside of work? Ashburton offers a lifestyle that’s hard to beat — with Mt Hutt’s ski slopes, Lake Hood’s water sports, and Christchurch just up the road.
