Customer Service Officer

Job No: ADC69
Location: New Zealand

  • Varied role within a fun and supportive team
  • Weekends off. Every. Single. One.
  • Permanent, full-time position

What the job involves

If you love being the friendly face that brightens someone’s day, this role is calling your name! As our Customer Service Superstar, you’ll be the first point of contact for our hapori (community) — whether it’s a cheerful kia ora at the front counter, a helpful voice over the phone, or a speedy reply via email. No two days are the same, and thanks to our rotating duties, you’ll get to dabble in all sorts of Council magic — from dog registrations  to rates rebates and everything in between.

Key Responsibilities of this diverse position include:

  • Be the go-to legend at the front counter, phone, and inbox
  • Help process requests, payments, and keep things running smoothly
  • Tackle admin tasks like a pro — from direct debits to property files
  • Learn heaps about Council services while having a laugh with your team

This is a permanent, full time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Who we are looking for

We’re on the hunt for a customer-loving, cool-under-pressure, admin-wielding legend who’s ready to jump in and make things happen. You don’t need to have years of experience — just bring your positive vibes, quick thinking, and Microsoft Office wizardry. If you can stay calm when the phones are ringing and still greet someone with a smile, you’re our kind of human.

What’s in it for you?

We're all about making mahi meaningful and enjoyable. Here's what you'll get when you join our whānau:

  • A brand new workplace at Te Whare Whakatere
  • A team that’s friendly, funny, and genuinely supportive
  • Professional development to help you grow your skills and confidence
  • Health and wellness perks to keep you feeling fab
  • Service leave to reward your commitment
  • Birthday leave — because cake tastes better when you’re not at work
  • The option to purchase extra leave (hello, long weekends and spontaneous getaways!)
  • And of course… Weekends off. Every. Single. One.

Plus, you’ll be based in Ashburton — where the mountains meet the plains, Lake Hood is just around the corner, and Christchurch is a quick hop away.
