What the job involves

This exciting new opportunity will see you lead our Learning & Experience team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. You will be responsible for effectively leading the development and delivery of all our visitor focused activities within agreed budgets, ensuring targets are met, and high standards are maintained. These will include all our learning programmes, our gift shop, front of house functions and suite of public programmes.

 

You will propose, plan and deliver vibrant educational programmes that relate to current collections and exhibitions and will work with community groups to deliver mutually beneficial outreach activities that enhance our visitor experience.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate and proactive leader who is fully conversant with contemporary gallery and museum practice. You will have strong communication skills and will be confident in developing and delivering programmes to all ages. Experience working with diverse groups of people and children in an event management context is preferred.

 

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification and four years’ relevant work experience in an intermediate to senior role within a museum, gallery or other such organisation. Proven supervisory experience is preferred, and we require you to be committed to biculturalism, upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and have an understanding of tikanga Māori.
