What the job involves

Working with the GIS team and the wider organisation you’ll contribute to the on-going development, delivery, and management of GIS services and infrastructure at Ashburton District Council.   

 

Alongside end users you will use and develop your GIS skillsets to identify needs and requirements and turn these into spatial solutions that support our Information Systems and align with our GIS Strategy. You’ll promote and support user education and development, to further the use of GIS in support of the GIS teams and organisational goals.

 

We are seeking interest for two positions as a GIS Analyst, as detailed below:

  • Permanent position, working 40 hours per week.
  • Fixed term position, working 40 hours per week, until 30 June 2026.

 

These positions are based in Ashburton, located one hour south of Christchurch.

Who are we looking for?

You will bring an applied expertise of ESRI solutions, within a local government or similar environment, working alongside teammates and end users to support the continual improvement of our GIS service and solutions and meet current best practices and industry standards. You will also have:

 

  • A relevant or related GIS tertiary qualification.
  • At least 2 years’ practical experience in GIS.
  • Applied knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcGIS product set.
  • Experience with Eagle Technology Local Maps.

The salary band for this position goes from $62,000 per annum to $72,000 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role.
