Projects Manager - 3 Waters

Job No: ADC118
Location: New Zealand

  • Lead Meaningful Infrastructure Projects
  • Build Strong Partnerships
  • Shape the Future of 3 Waters

Ready to deliver projects that keep communities flowing?

Join us in a role where your engineering expertise and project leadership help shape the future of our water infrastructure. From treatment plants to pipelines, you'll be at the centre of projects that make a real difference every day.
We're looking for a Projects Manager who thrives on delivering complex projects, building strong relationships and keeping things moving - safely, efficiently and without missing the details.

What you'll be doing:
This isn't a desk-bound project role. You'll be leading the delivery of our 3 Waters capital and renewal programme from concept through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.

  • Lead projects from start to finish - from tendering and procurement through to construction, handover and everything in between.
  • Keep projects on track - monitor budgets, programmes, risks and contractor performance to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Partner with people - work closely with our Assets and Operations teams, contractors, consultants and the wider community.
  • Solve problems before they become headaches - identify risks early and find practical solutions to keep projects moving.
  • Manage contracts with confidence - ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with industry standards.
  • Deliver assets that last - ensuring new infrastructure integrates seamlessly into existing operations and is handed over ready for the future.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong project management skills and a track record of delivering capital projects successfully.
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining a sharp eye for detail.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build trusted relationships with contractors, consultants and colleagues.
  • Great communication skills and the confidence to navigate challenges and make decisions.
  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and at least five years' relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience managing significant infrastructure projects.

What's in it for you?

  • Deliver projects that have a direct impact on the community.
  • Be part of a supportive and experienced Infrastructure Services team.
  • Enjoy variety, autonomy and the opportunity to see projects through from concept to completion.
  • Flexible working arrangements and a great range of benefits.
  • Work alongside people who value initiative, practical thinking and a good sense of humour.
  • Help shape the future of water infrastructure for our district.

The Ashburton District Council offers competitive remuneration, training, and career development opportunities plus a range of health, wellness and service recognition benefits.
